FAQ
Which items can I sell?
As we strive to offer the best collection, we only accept items from the best designers that fit our clientele. Therefore, we can only accept the following designers:
Bags: Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Goyard, Bottega Veneta, Gucci and Fendi
Jewellery: Cartier, Bvlgari, Tiffany & Co and Van Cleef & Arpels
Watches (women’s): Cartier and Rolex
How does the authentication process work?
At Bonvin, we take pride in every item that passes through our collection. Both in its condition and its authenticity. Before we list your item on our channels, our in-house expert will conduct a authenticity inspection, supported by archival research when required.
This careful process — combining external examination, internal assessment, and archival research — demands time and dedication, yet allows us to guarantee authenticity with complete confidence.
In addition, we use Vestiaire Collective as our secondary sales channel, as they apply a strict authentic-only policy as well. When uploading an item to Vestiaire Collective, each piece is verified twice more: once at the time of listing, and again upon arrival at their authentication centre in Tourcoing as part of their authenticated shipping service. Only when every detail is confirmed with precision is a piece entrusted to its new owner. This shared dedication reinforces not only our own authentic-only philosophy, but also the desire of Vestiaire Collective and our clients to embrace nothing less than the real deal.
How does the Payout get calculated?
When selling any item online, there are fees involved. Your piece will be listed on two sales channels, our own webshop and our Vestiaire Collective page. Wherever the item sells first is where the final sale will take place.
There are two ways the fees are determined. If the final sale takes place on our own website, a 5% transaction fee is deducted from the selling price.
On Vestiaire Collective, a buyer’s fee of 13% (capped at €300) and a seller’s fee of 12% are deducted from the selling price.
To balance the difference in fee structures between the two channels, items are listed at a slightly higher price on Vestiaire Collective than on our website.
For example: You submit a beautiful Chanel Full Flap bag for consignment through Bonvin. The item gets listed for €1,950 on our website and €2,200 on Vestiaire Collective:
- Our website: (€1,950 / 1.05) = €1,857.14 the final selling price (after fees). As this price falls in the €500–€3,000 bracket, your payout is 0.85 × €1,857.14 = €1,578.57.
- Vestiaire Collective: (€2,200 / 1.13) × 0.88 = €1,713.27 the final selling price (after fees). As this price falls in the €500–€3,000 bracket, your payout is 0.85 × €1,713.27 = €1,456,28
How is my item priced?
We make sure you get the best price possible for your item. Selling prices depend on the brand, the model, the condition of the item and present accessories. We base ourselves on current market prices, outstanding requests within our network and our experience.
How does my item get to Bonvin?
Once you approve your personal quotation, we will send you a prepaid DHL shipping label using the details provided in the consignment agreement by email. This label allows you to safely send us your item. The label includes a track & trace code, so you can follow the journey of your piece all the way to our office in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
If you’re located near Nijmegen, you’re welcome to arrange a personal drop-off by appointment. Please contact us for more information.
Should I expect any shipping or delivery costs?
No, the shipping label is prepaid by Bonvin. Regarding the packaging, we have a few tips make sure your item arrives safely:
- Protect the item: Empty it and remove all your belongings, stuff it with soft filling to keep its shape, and (if available) place it in the designated dust bag.
- Pack securely: Wrap the item in bubble wrap, use a sturdy cardboard box, and fill empty spaces in this box so it can’t move. Seal the box well and show the shipping label clearly.
- Secure hardware: Wrap the metal parts of your item in tissue to prevent scratches.
What does the selling process look like?
Once your item arrives at our office in Nijmegen, the authentication process starts and takes approximately 24 hours. Once approved, we will start to prepare the uploading of your item on our website and Vestiaire Collective page.
First we start with taking clear pictures of all angles of your item. Once that is finished we will make a tailor-made description that gives the potential buyer all the information he or she needs regarding the designer, specific model, materials used, condition, accessories, exact dimensions and (if present) the signs of wear. This will place the potential buyer in the desired position to make a well informed choice if he or she would like to add this item to his or her collection. If the potential buyer wants to know more regarding your item, we are available 7 days a week to support with our expertise.
Once your item gets sold, we will get the item and package ready for the new owner and ship it within 1 to 2 business days. Delivery takes place within 1 to 5 business, depending on the buyer’s location worldwide. Once arrived at the buyer, the 14-day return window starts. After 14-days, the return window has expired and we can toast on a successful sale and your funds will be paid directly to your submitted bank account.
How long does it take to sell my item?
As every item and buyer is unique, the sale time is unique as well. Sometimes your item gets sold on the first day, sometimes it takes multiple months. We strive to streamline this process and make sure your item finds the new home it deserves as soon as possible, with most of our items selling within 30 days.
The consigner may request the return of the item after 90 days from the listing date if the item remain unsold.
When can I expect my payment to arrive?
We always do our best to transfer your payout as soon as possible. Once your item is sold, we will ship it within 1 to 2 business days and shipping can take between 1 to 5 business days, depending on the buyer’s location worldwide. Once the package has arrived at the buyer, the 14-day return window starts. After 14-days, the return window has expired and your funds will be paid directly to your submitted bank account. If you want to know the exact date of your payout transfer, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Can I sell my item on other platforms at the same time?
With every listing we upload, we tailor the marketing to suit each items unique qualities and work to secure a good sale as quickly as possible.
To ensure this process runs smoothly, we ask you to not market the item yourself, as it can significantly disrupt the selling process.
Can I sell my bags directly to Bonvin?
The ‘Sell with Bonvin’ service is only available on a consignment basis. We do not offer a direct cash option. Our goal is to help clients achieve the highest possible return on sale — something a substantially lower direct cash option would naturally diminish.
I am living outside of the EU, can I sell my item with Bonvin?
Unfortunately, at this moment, we can only accept items for consignment that are shipped to us from within the EU.
